Many members of our boisterous and energetic team at Synergy Marketing Consultants have also been members of a sports team at some point during their childhood years. And with dreams of making it to the pros or even representing our country at the Olympics, most of these would-be athletes enjoyed playing their favourite sports for teams that were sponsored by local businesses.
What a great way to advertise your business! Not only does it show an earnest interest in the youth of your community but sponsoring a local league's baseball, hockey or soccer team helps to put your business' name on the playing field...literally...on a regular basis. This practice can go a long way.
One of our staff members recalls being regularly treated by a nearby eatery whose name was emblazoned across his chest during every softball game he played as a youngster. The restaurant would treat the team, as well as their parents and coaches to discounted meals after every game.
This not only allowed the team to celebrate (after a win) or boosted the team's spirits (after a loss) but it helped to develop a strong sense of brand loyalty in the community. Especially in smaller sports-crazed towns, having a team representing your place of business can do wonders.
