Toronto To Freeze This Weekend
January 8th, 2010
It's official. It's cold. Really cold.
While this is no secret to the average Canadian, Torontonians have enjoyed (if that is the right word) a considerably mild winter so far. The snow hasn't been all that extensive and the cold has been...well, normal for this time of year.
Tomorrow, however, the temperature will drop to minus 15 degrees Celcius. That's called “staying inside” weather my friends! And while some Canadians will be all too excited to take to the slopes or the ice rinks, many others will decide to embark upon indoor activities instead. And who could blame them?
If it's an absolute must you be outside, it goes without saying that you should bundle up. It's really too bad we don't sell promotional winter clothing here at Synergy Marketing Consultants. Canadian business owners should, however, consider the weather when doling out promo items to their employees and clients at this time of year.
One of our excellent winter items is the 1L IronMan Thermos which is absolutely ideal for a winter excursion that may require the use of hot cocoa! The thermos is very durable, is all stainless steel and comes with an Easy Pour Button Release, a cup, a carrying handle and a removable shoulder strap. We “warmly” suggest that you to check out the “Drinkware” section of our website to get more information about this fantastic promo item.
While tomorrow's temperature is expected to rise to a high of minus 10 degrees Celcius (it sounds funny to consider a “minus” temperature a “high” doesn't it?), it is being reported that it will “feel” like minus 18. Just great.
Torontonians are best advised to dress warmly to avoid frostbite. As Wikipedia.org explains, “Factors that contribute to frostbite include extreme cold, inadequate clothing, wet clothes, wind chill, and poor circulation. Poor circulation can be caused by tight clothing or boots, cramped positions, fatigue, certain medications, smoking, alcohol use, or diseases that affect the blood vessels, such as diabetes.”
Thankfully, over the course of the following days, the city will begin to warm up a bit. While it would be wishful thinking to believe that Toronto may achieve an above freezing number on the thermometer, temperatures are likely peak in the minus 1 region throughout next week.
It could be worse, perhaps. At least we're not in Florida!
And while it is true that temperatures in the Sunshine State are currently in the freezing department as well, it is completely unexpected in that region. At least Canadians are used to this weather in the winter and can handle it appropriately. Stay warm this weekend Toronto! Have a good one.
