Another Super Bowl has come and gone. And a vast number of people are waking up this morning still feeling the effects of a party of some kind last night where they took in all the action. And yes, while the Super Bowl represents the finals of the National Football League season, it also signifies the most notorious of advertising campaigns in television.
Each and every year, there is about as much attention given to the commercials run during the Super Bowl as the game itself. Some would even argue that the ads are the highlight of the event. Naturally, with marketing being our industry, we take great interest in this each and every year.
And this year was no exception to the rule that Super Bowl commercials are the best in the business. Advertisers pull out all the stops knowing that the viewing audience for the Super Bowl is far greater than any other television event all year. So what were the best commercials that were run this year?
“I loved the Seinfeld one,” insisted one of our Synergy team members this morning. With Jerry Seinfeld still being such a popular figure in entertainment, the Acura commercial starring the comedian was sure to garner a lot of praise. In it, Seinfeld goes to great lengths to secure the car of his choice, only to be thwarted by another major star! Watch it HERE.
“The Ferris Bueller commercial was awesome,” stated another Synergy rep, referring to the Honda CR-V ad starring Matthew Broderick. For those unfamiliar with the actor’s 1986 comedy, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the jokes in the ad may have been lost. Nevertheless, it was was quite an interesting ad for the car makers. Watch it HERE.
Car makers, as a matter of fact, seemed to run away with the top ads during this year’s Super Bowl. To advertise the new Chevy Silverado, advertisers came up with an apocalyptic depiction that somehow managed to be humorous. Taking a jab at Ford, this ad was one of the most eyebrow-raising of all Super Bowl ads. Watch it HERE.
A Kia Optima commercial brought viewers along on a dream sequence that saw everything from super models to rock stars to mixed martial arts fighters. With the famous “Mr. Sandman” song also being utilized, this commercial was a hard one to forget. Watch it HERE.
As always, the Super Bowl brought about super advertisements. Advertisers truly went all out once again. Oh, and by the way, the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots 21-17 to become this year’s Super Bowl Champions – just in case you were interested.
